How Epaderm Ointment Works

Dry skin can become dehydrated when the natural protective barrier is compromised. Epaderm Ointment forms a protective layer over the skin to help reduce moisture loss and retain hydration.

Yellow soft paraffin and liquid paraffin provide rich emollient properties, while cetomacrogol emulsifying wax forms the ointment base. The rich consistency makes Epaderm particularly suitable for areas requiring intensive moisturisation.

3 Ways to Use Epaderm Ointment

1. Directly on the Skin

Apply Epaderm Ointment generously and frequently to dry areas of skin. Gently smooth over the skin in the direction of hair growth rather than rubbing vigorously.

For best results, use regularly, including when the skin appears improved, to help maintain moisture levels.

2. As a Skin Cleanser

Epaderm Ointment can be used instead of ordinary soap. Take a small amount, work it under warm water and gently cleanse the skin.

Using an emollient cleanser can help avoid the drying effects that conventional soaps and detergents may have on dry or sensitive skin.

3. As a Bath Additive

Epaderm Ointment can also be used as a bath additive. Approximately 4g, equivalent to around one teaspoon, can be melted in a tumbler of hot water and allowed to cool before being added to the bath.

Never apply hot water or hot ointment directly to the skin. Take care when bathing as the product can make the bath surface slippery.
